Kathleen (Guinness, Diet-Coke, Junior Mints)

Life Story: I was born in a thatched roof cottage by the sea, the peat from the bog burning on the turf fire... oh wait, sorry... born and bred in Troy, NY and proud of it; 5 siblings, lots of books & socks for Christmas; actress, teacher, lover of the Red Sox and all things Irish (except corned beef and cabbage...) Slainte!

What types of books do you enjoy reading, or what makes you love a book?
My first love will always be children's books, especially picture books. As far as "big people" books go – I love classic (Austen, Bronte, Shelley, Wilde) and contemporary (Chris Bohjalian, Jon Hassler, Jasper Fforde, John Irving) fiction, history, biography & plays.

Five must-have books for a desert island:
1. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
2. Four Hens and A Rooster
3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
4. Jane Eyre
5. How Georgie Radbourn Saved Baseball

Community Affiliations: Support your local theatre when you're not reading! Come and see plays at Albany Civic Theater, Curtain Call Theater or the Theater Company at Hubbard Hall (Cambridge, NY), among many others!

Favorite childhood books: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Monster at the End of This Book by Jon Stone

Top five authors:
1. Chirs Bohjalian
2. Jon Hassler
3. C.S. Lewis
4. Susan Cooper
5. Madeleine L'Engle

Book that I'm an evangelist for: Staggerford by Jon Hassler. I refuse to believe recent, persistent rumors about its going out-of-print...

Book that changed my life: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe....it's what made me a reader.

Favorite line from a book: "Wild nights are my glory," Mrs Whatsit said. "I just got caught in a down draft and blown off course...I shall just sit down for a moment...and then I'll be on my way. Speaking of ways, pet, by the way, there is such a thing as a tesseract."

Book you most want to read again for the first time: Charlotte's Web
